Our Process
Collection
We provide collection of unwanted IT equipment, electrical items, and data-bearing devices from businesses and households across South Devon.
Collections can be arranged on a one-off, ad-hoc, or ongoing basis depending on requirements. We aim to offer a straightforward local service with flexible collection schedules and clear communication throughout.
Where appropriate, collection containers can be provided to help keep equipment organised between collections.
Secure Handling of Data-Bearing Devices
Data security is a priority throughout the collection and processing process.
Data-bearing devices are identified and segregated from general electrical waste. Devices awaiting processing are held securely prior to destruction or further treatment.
Secure data wiping is included as standard where appropriate. Where physical destruction is required, data-bearing media can be destroyed and certificates provided upon request.
This includes equipment such as:
- Desktop computers
- Laptops
- Hard drives
- Solid state drives (SSDs)
- Servers
- Network equipment
- Other data-bearing electronic devices
See more about our data destruction policy here.
Recovery Before Disposal
Many larger operators process equipment through bulk shredding.
Our approach is different.
Equipment is manually processed to allow reusable components and materials to be separated wherever possible. This supports the principles of the waste hierarchy by prioritising reuse and recovery ahead of disposal.
By taking a more selective approach, valuable materials can be recovered while reducing the volume of waste requiring final treatment.
WEEE Compliance
We collect and process a wide range of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), including:
- Computers and IT equipment
- Printers and peripherals
- Networking equipment
- Office electronics
- Consumer electronics
- Small electrical appliances
- Data-bearing devices
Collection records and supporting documentation can be provided to assist businesses with their environmental and record-keeping requirements.
Batteries
Batteries are handled separately from general electrical waste and managed through appropriate recycling routes.
Where battery collections form part of a wider service, suitable storage and collection arrangements can be discussed depending on the volume and type of batteries generated.
Business Services
We work with businesses requiring:
- IT equipment disposal
- IT decommissioning projects
- Office clearances
- Secure data destruction
- WEEE collections
- Ongoing electrical waste services
Whether you require a single collection or a longer-term arrangement, we can tailor the service to suit your requirements.
